Waimea Arts Council’s Firehouse Gallery focuses on photography for its May exhibit. Photography is Art. Really! features the work of member photographers. The exhibit opens on Wednesday, May 7 and runs through Sunday, May 25. Please join us in celebrating the art of photography at a reception for the artists on Friday, May 9 from 5 to 7 pm in the gallery.
The word photography is derived from two Greek words photos (“light”) and graphos (“to draw”). Thus, photography is often described as ”drawing with light.” Please come and see how our award-winning photographers have orchestrated the light to present their artistic vision in photographic form.
Member photographers exhibiting in this show will include: Sam Cudney, Judy Folk, Bernt Grundseth, Susan Harris, Joe Laceby, Kris Lockhard, Tim Pervinkler, and Barbara Schaefer.
In addition to work from Firehouse Gallery photographers, young artists who have been participating in a photographic workshop at the gallery will have their work exhibited. This special workshop program was made possible through a generous grant from Young Brothers.
Since “April showers bring May flowers” (and March downpours have certainly contributed as well) our Back Gallery’s theme for the month will be Flowers. Member artists will present their flowers in a variety of media.
