Experience collagraphy! Create a bird and habitat at the April First Saturday Art Class. In partnership with the Waimea Arts Council, Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library presents Collagraphy Print Making with artist Lorrie Taylor. Experience collagraphy! Collagraphy is a process that creates fun prints with minimal work. In this class, beginning artists ages 6+ will use cut shapes and textures to create a raised plate that is then covered with paper. Students will gently rub the relief with crayon or chalk to create a unique print. All materials provided by the Waimea Arts Council. The Basics of Drawing Cartoons with artists Lloyd Fukuki and Lorrie Taylor. In partnership with the Waimea Arts Council, Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library presents The Basics of Drawing Cartoons with artists Lloyd Fukuki and Lorrie Taylor. Bring out the cartoonist in you! In this class, beginning artists ages 8+ will learn simplified ways to draw people, plants, and animals—even dinosaurs! Students will discover the secrets for rendering facial expressions, action, perspective, and how to make cartoon characters appear cute or fierce. All materials provided by the Waimea Arts Council and Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Watercolor Foundation Classes: Color, Light,& Play July12, 19, 26 & August 2 Sunday’s 2 – 5 pm Learn Foundational watercolor techniques including washes, layering, mark-making, color mixing, and composition. Watercolor Explorations Classes: July 14, 21, 28 & August 4 Tuesday’s 5 – 8 pm Designed for students with some prior watercolor experience, this class offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the medium. Functional Hand Building Ceramics: July : 21, 28 |  August: 4, 11, 18, Tuesday | 11 am - 2 pm 1 weekday per week | 3-hour sessions. Beginning with simple forms, you'll gradually combine techniques to build lager, more expressive pieces with strength and character. This class celebrates the beauty of handmade pottery. Hand Building Ceramics. August: 9, 16, 23, 30 September: 6, 13 Sunday’s | 3:30 – 6:30 pm Over six weeks, you’ll learn essential and decorative pieces. The course begins with pinch pots, coil construction, and vessel building before progressing to soft slab techniques using a slab roller, molds and slump molds to create bowls, patterns and tripod cups. Silk Painting – Botanical Roundel Class: Wednesday, July 29, 1:30 – 5 pm  Inspired by Hawai’i’ s tropical botanica, experience the magic of painting on silk and create a one-of a kind artwork to frame and take home.
