    Pop-up art cards are fun! Make one for Father’s Day. The Waimea Arts Council and Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library are offering a community art class on Pop-up Art Cards. Artist Lorrie Taylor hosts the next session on Saturday June 7 from 10 am – noon in the Thelma Parker Memorial public library meeting room. Come make a card for the occasion of your choice. The cards can be as simple or detailed as you like – the sky’s the limit. Open to the public ages 6 and up. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.   • Elemental Balance Opening Reception

    The Waimea Arts Council is excited to host “Elemental Balance,” a group exhibition by our members, exploring the fundamental forces of nature that shape our world and our lives. Please join us at the opening reception on June 7 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. The show continues through July 27.

    The Waimea Arts Council presents an exciting new art show at the historic Firehouse Gallery. Hawaii Island Traditions displays vibrant original art from talented Big Island artists interpreting our communities’ customs and festivals. The Firehouse Gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, 11 AM to 3 PM and whenever our flags are flying. Find us at the intersection of Hwys 190 and 19 in Waimea.
