DESCRIPTION:FIREHOUSE GALLERY \nPresents:  Brenda Meriwether – Underwater Tile Art Show\nOpening June 6th 3 pm – 5 pm \nDuring the month of June Brenda Meriwether will be exhibiting 50 years of ceramic experience with her own mini show at the Firehouse Gallery in Waimea. Brenda will be in attendance for the opening. Come check o ut her work! Pupus will be served. \nBrenda Meriwether\, a ceramic tile artist with 50 years of experience in ceramics. She has managed ceramic studios in Texas and Iceland\, has taught techniques classes in slip casting and glazing\, and has had her works in Polynesian Cultural Center\, a show at Ong King and a window at Art at Marks Garage on Oahu. On the Big Island she’s had works at the Wailua Art Center\, currently at Firehouse Gallery and Kukuau Studio. For this show she explored underwater subjects\, from pretty koi to Creature from the Black Lagoon. For more information\, call 808-887-1052.

DESCRIPTION:The Waimea Arts Council invites Hawaii Island artists to join and enter 42nd ANNUAL FOUNDERS JURIED ART SHOW\nFirehouse Gallery • October 3 – Nov. 15\, 2026\nImportant Dates\nArt submission:  Friday and Saturday\, Sept. 25\, 26 from 11 am – 3 pm\nOpening Reception: Saturday\, October 3\, 2026\nOpening reception and Awards announcement:\nFirehouse Gallery\, Saturday\, October 3\, 3 – 5 pm\nExhibition closes: Sunday\, November 15. Artists need to pick up unsold work on this day from 11 am-3 pm.If you have questions about installing your work\, don’t hesitate to contact WaimeaArtsCouncil@gmail.com. \nPrizes: \nCash awards presented at the reception on Saturday\, October 3\, 3-5 pm. \nJudging Information:\nEntries will be judged using five criteria: originality\, visual balance\, clarity\, personal expression\, and execution of the medium. \nJudge\nRichard Bodien is a painter\, poet\, and musician based in Hāwī\, Hawaiʻi. His work has been exhibited in Seattle\, his own Hāwī Gallery\, and at the Kahilu Theater. His abstract paintings are represented by Tiffany’s Art Agency. A lifelong student of art history\, Bodien has both an artist’s eye and a broad perspective of American\, European and Asian art.
