DESCRIPTION:The Waimea Arts Council in collaboration with Pacific Raven Press is delighted to host an inspiring evening of poetry on Friday\, March 27\, from 4 to 6 p.m. This special event will feature local and visiting poets whose work resonates with contemporary art’s beauty and emotional depth. In the intimate gallery space\, attendees will experience a dynamic fusion of visual and literary expression.\nGuests are encouraged to mingle with the poets and fellow art appreciators while enjoying complimentary refreshments. DESCRIPTION:Water sustains all living things – flowing through culture\, memory and the natural world. In this members’ exhibition\, artists interpret the essential and spiritual connection between wai (water) and life in Hawai’i. Through diverse media and perspectives the show honors water as both a precious resource and a symbol of renewal. \nCome meet artists at the opening reception for Ola I Ka Wai: Water is Life on Saturday\, April 4 from 3-5 pm\, with light pupus and punch. \nThe Firehouse Gallery is located at the intersection of highways 190 and 19 and is regularly open from Thursday – Sunday 11-3 and whenever flags are flying. \nFor more information\, call 808-887-1052. \n  \n

SUMMARY:First Saturday Art Class: Build-a-Bird
DESCRIPTION:Create a bird and habitat at the April First Saturday Art Class. \nIn partnership with the Waimea Arts Council\, Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library presents Build-A-Bird! with artist Lorrie Taylor on April 4 from 10 am to noon in the library. \nIn this class\, beginning artists 6+ will create their own bird and habitat using a selection of supplies\, some bird knowledge\, and their creativity. All materials provided by the Waimea Arts Council. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. This class is presented as part of the library’s Flight Path grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The Flight Path campaign is focused on how communities can observe and protect local and migratory birds\, especially during peak migration periods. \nClass size is limited and advance registration at the library for each class is required.
