SUMMARY:First Saturday Art Class: Build-a-Bird
DESCRIPTION:Create a bird and habitat at the April First Saturday Art Class. \nIn partnership with the Waimea Arts Council\, Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library presents Build-A-Bird! with artist Lorrie Taylor on April 4 from 10 am to noon in the library. \nIn this class\, beginning artists 6+ will create their own bird and habitat using a selection of supplies\, some bird knowledge\, and their creativity. All materials provided by the Waimea Arts Council. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. This class is presented as part of the library’s Flight Path grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The Flight Path campaign is focused on how communities can observe and protect local and migratory birds\, especially during peak migration periods. \nClass size is limited and advance registration at the library for each class is required. DESCRIPTION:Come create your own origami shadow box!  The Waimea Arts Council and Thelma Parker Memorial Library are sponsoring a community art class “Origami Shadow Boxes” on March 7\, 2026 from 10-noon.  Artist Lorrie Taylor will show beginning artists 6+ how to fold their own origami shadow box and add small treasures. Students are encouraged to find treasures on a nature walk or bring small treasures from home to display in their box. Origami box materials provided by the Waimea Arts Council. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. \nClass is held at the Thelma Parker Memorial Library\, 67-1209 Mamalahoa Hwy. \nThe class is free\, but space is limited. DESCRIPTION:The Waimea Arts Council and Thelma Parker Memorial Public Library are offering a community art class on November 1 called Textiles are Art Too! Artist Lorrie Taylor hosts the session on Saturday November 1 from 10 am – noon in the Thelma Parker Memorial public library meeting room. \n\n\n\nIn this class beginning artists ages 6 and up will learn to make yarn feathers or leaves.  Using simple knots\, students will create a finished piece that will look great hanging anywhere!  If you can tie a knot\, you can create a textile piece. \n\n\n\nOpen to the public ages 6 and up. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.  All materials are provided by the Waimea Arts Council. \n\n\n\nThe class is free but registration is required.  Space is limited.
