    The Waimea Arts Council (WAC) sponsors programs, exhibits and arts education as well as provides services to individual artists and other community groups. Membership is open to supporters of the arts. The organization is dedicated to:

    Promoting the arts

    Encouragement of artists

    Providing a forum for art-related community events

    The Waimea Arts Council was founded in 1976 and obtained its 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 1978. It is located at the intersections of Highways 19 and 190 on the Big Island of Hawaii. As an all-volunteer organization it is supported primarily through donations which are very much appreciated and are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

    Gallery Participating Artist Program

    For local artists, both beginners and professionals, Waimea Arts Council has a program to exhibit and sell art and fine craft on a daily basis at the Firehouse Gallery. There is an annual program fee required along with Waimea Arts Council annual dues. Participating artists must have or be able to obtain a State of Hawaii General Excise Tax license.
